Jim Adlam has many years' experience as a copy editor and page designer, working in magazines, newspapers and online. As a copy editor, he strives to maintain the highest editorial standards, producing clear, concise text, checking the accuracy and consistency of information and cleaning up the English without altering the author's meaning. He works quickly and efficiently but keeps up the quality, even when under pressure. He is used to environments ranging from scientific journals to fast-paced online newswires. His knowledge of British media law is backed up by an NCTJ legal qualification.
His skills as a page designer have been honed over an equally long period, working on tabloid and broadsheet newspapers, A4 and A5 magazines and other formats. He is adept with InDesign and Quark XPress and produces clean, fresh pages that fit perfectly into a publication's style but show a touch of creativity.
Jim is also a skilled and speedy proofreader, who spots grammatical, spelling and other mistakes easily. He is fully familiar with BSI proofing marks.
