Jim Adlam is a trained and experienced writer/reporter whose work has appeared in newspapers, magazines and books. His aim is to research and uncover the information that the reader really wants to know, then present it in the clearest, most accurate form. During his time on regional newspapers, at Jane's and the FT group, he has learned the importance of accuracy, precision and a clear writing style.
When constructing a news piece, he follows the principle of grabbing the reader's attention in the first sentence, setting out the most important facts at the top of the story, then giving further detail and quotes to back up the item as the story progresses down the page. Structuring a lengthy feature, analysis piece or a book can be more complicated, but it is still essential to attract the reader in the introduction, then present the bulk of the content in a logical order, culminating in a reasoned conclusion.
Below are some samples of his writing.
